What we build
Calcstead publishes free calculators and field guides for measuring, ordering, budgeting, and comparing project scope. We begin with concrete, driveways, hardscape, fencing, lumber, and stairs, then expand by project cluster.
The calculators are designed for homeowners, estimators, tradespeople, students, and anyone who wants to inspect the assumptions behind a number.
Editorial standard
- Formulas and units must be testable.
- Planning prices must be editable and dated.
- Technical limits and safety boundaries must be visible.
- Sources must explain what they support.
- Advertising must not interrupt the calculation or imitate controls.
Independent estimates
Advertisers do not set formulas, price presets, rankings, or recommendations. When advertising is enabled, it will be clearly separated from calculator controls and publisher content.
Calcstead estimates are educational planning tools. They do not replace a site inspection, supplier confirmation, contractor quote, engineered design, or locally adopted code.
