How Many Bags of Concrete Are in a Cubic Yard?
Concrete bag weight is not concrete volume. Use the nominal mixed yield printed for the exact product, divide the required cubic feet by that yield, and round up to complete bags.

The table uses the referenced QUIKRETE Concrete Mix nominal yields. Other products, including specialty mixes, can have different yields.

Round the whole project quantity
Half a cubic yard is 13.5 ft³. At 0.6 ft³ per bag, the exact equivalent is 22.5 bags, so 23 complete bags are needed before allowance. If adding 10% allowance to that half-yard requirement, 14.85 ÷ 0.6 = 24.75, rounded to 25 bags. Do not round every tiny subsection separately if they will share one batch order.
Use yield and logistics together
Compare not only bag count but also transport, mixing time, equipment, and the placement plan. An 80 lb bag is heavier to handle than smaller packaging, even when the equivalent concrete volume is the same.
