How Much Does a Pallet of Sod Cover?
A pallet is a shipping unit, not a universal lawn area. Multiply the coverage of each sod piece or roll by the number of pieces actually included in the supplier’s pallet.

A 2 × 5 ft piece covers 10 ft². Fifty such pieces cover 500 ft². A different piece size or count changes the pallet coverage even if the supplier calls both orders one pallet.

Calculate pieces before whole pallets
A 780 ft² lawn with 10% cutting allowance needs 858 ft². With 10 ft² pieces, that is 86 pieces. If sold only in 50-piece pallets, the order is two pallets covering 1,000 ft². Ask whether a partial pallet of 36 additional pieces is available after the first full pallet.
Compare the delivered job scope
Pallet cost is only one line in a lawn project. Soil preparation, removing old turf, correcting levels, delivery timing, and installation affect the budget. Keep the quantity calculation separate from selecting grass variety and establishment practices for the site.
